nice job, lovelee. I just wonder if you will put Korean in the book with English when you edit. it’s for Yuna’s birthday gift and it would be much easier for her to read the quotes in Korean, so I think it’s better to edit in English+Korean or in Korean as far as we have Korean translations.

Jing, some of the quotes by Yuna doesn’t have direct Korean translations unless someone knows if they have been translated. I would most definitely use the Korean versions and English too if both are available. Let’s take whatever we have for now.
Here are the following I have used so far without translations:
“I would like to be humble so that all my accomplishments won’t tumble down at once. I wish to make sure they stay intact no matter what I do in the future.”
***
“As far as I know, figure skating is not just a competition among countries or contenders. It’s not a solitary competition with myself, either. Though I’m still in the process to learn and realize what skating really is, what I know right now is that the most important thing in figure skating is the connection with the audience. So I hope that I, and everyone watching my performances, will not feel joy or sorrow accompanied by the colors of the medals, but share joy and happiness that I’ll deliver through the music and my performances..”
***
“This too shall pass.”“No pain. No Gain.”
” Since I have a new mountain to climb, I want to climb higher…. ”
” I want to be remembered as a figure skater who touched your heart…”
” Practice makes PERFECT! ”
***
“I was training for about four years in Canada, although my coach and where I’m going to be training have not been decided definitely yet,” Kim said. “I’m going to make those decisions slowly and step-by-step.”
-Sept. 7, 2010
***
“Truly I still can’t believe that I did what I wanted to do at the Olympics–”
-LA Times
***
“Having competed as an athlete since a very young age, I can relate to the participants of Innsbruck 2012 and I hope I can share my knowledge, passion and experience to motivate them to reach their potential. ”
***
“I always wanted to be Olympic champion and do clean programs. This was the first time I have done both programs clean, and I am very joyful it was at the Olympics.”
***“This was the first time I cried after an event. I didn’t know why but I was so happy.”
“I still cannot believe that I received those scores, it’s almost as close as the men’s score. ”
“After the Olympics and the gold medal, I wanted to do something for the Korean fans who have given me so much attention and support. ”
***” I am lost for words about now … I’m really excited. It will be very good to compete in my own country. ”
” We made it! Thank you for your support. See you in PyeongChang. ”
” I am lost for words about now … I’m really excited. It will be very good to compete in my own country. ”
***“Many people have asked me what my next goal is right after the Olympics were over, but I don’t think it’s time yet. I need time to think about what I’ll do next. For now, I figure if I go to school diligently and live my daily life as well as I could while I fulfill the duties I am given, everything will fall into place and I’ll know what I want to do next. That’s why until I figure out what my next goal is, I plan to just let myself be.”
***“I believe whomever ends up winning the gold medal is the fate determined by the heavens. Even if I turn out to be not that person that day, I am prepared to accept the [possible] outcome.”
“I’ve watched three different Olympics as a young girl, but the Nagano, Salt Lake City, and Torino Olympics all had unexpected endings. I thought to myself, ‘Ah, the Olympic glory must only be given to an athlete that’s chosen by the heavens.’ I’ve made up my mind from then on not to let myself get disappointed too much even if I do not win the gold medal and just accept it by thinking I just wasn’t the appointed one. The only thing I did was just skating my programs.”

“I really hope that when I leave, my last trace will be beautiful.”-Yuna KimJuly 17, 2012 at 5:49 pm #23534good to know, lovelee. thanks for your effort.

Here’s where she said it.
Another one from Yuna from that same video I posted earlier.
Talent is very important, but you must practice and practice. If you work hard, in the end it will pay off.

you were absolutely extraordinary at the Vancouver Olympics! I greatly enjoyed both your short and long programs, and was simply awed by the grace and athleticism of your gold-medal winning performance. Indeed, you exemplify the spirit of the Olympic Games both on and off the ice.
I was very touched to learn of your generous contribution to the relief efforts in Haiti. Thank you for serving as a role model for women and girls everywhere with the passion and dedication you display for your craft, and the humility with which you believe in serving the community.

This is a poem written by famous South Korean poet, Ko Eun after Yuna’s Olympic performance. His works have been translated and published in more than 15 countries. Ko Eun is often considered a likely winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. there is no Enlighs translation of the poem, but I wish our book could include his touching poem for Yuna.

I watched the preview several times and it has a professional quality. It’s really awesome and really well made.
There is only one thing that I can suggest to improve. In some pages where the text is placed above photos, for the instance:
I feel that the readability of text on the photos can be improved by making the part of the photo below the text brighter for black letters or darker for white letters.
You can place between the layer with text and the layer with photo a new layer which consists of white color with some degree of transparency like 50-80%, just the part where text is. I think it will be better that way.-

July 28, 2012 at 6:04 am #23678Daniel, thank you for the suggestions. More eyes are better than just two lol. The book making software I’m using isn’t very sophisticated and that is the best it does but I will use photoshop to make the transparent layers below the text with no problems. I’ll post with the updates soon. Thanks again for that suggestion and feel free to suggest more as you find them.

“I really hope that when I leave, my last trace will be beautiful.”-Yuna KimJuly 31, 2012 at 8:39 am #23688@loveleeyuna The book is looking absolutely beautiful! Your graphic and editorial design skills are wonderful, as usual. Thanks for putting this together – it’s going to be great. Here’s a quote from Yuna when she was on vacation back in June, 2010 with Kwak Min Jung. I first came across it from your montage, and I found it just now at http://www.allkpop.com/2010/06/kim-yuna-goes-on-a-vacation-with-kwak-min-jung. I’m afraid I can’t give a more specific credit as to its origin, so I’m sorry if you have to do some of my homework for me
“…Last weekend, I left for my last break before beginning my summer training… I was so happy for the 2 nights and 3 days. I was happy.. I was happy… The realization that the next day is Monday……. I couldn’t speak….”
Thanks again!

July 31, 2012 at 10:44 am #23690A little bit of quotes about Yuna with Russian origin (mostly, at least):
“The winner in female figure skating, Yuna Kim from Korea, performed sensationally, winning with a great margin.” – Evgeni Plushenko (when asked about the athletes on Olympic games he truly respects).
