test test test
August 1, 2012 at 2:44 am #23707Ok, I don’t get it.
Basically what happens is this – apparently I can post like everyone else. However, when I tried to post again my original writing, which is located here exactly as it is: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?vufsujvh6a9qwfy it didn’t publish it once again.
I thought it’s because of Cyrillic characters, but no.
Something in that post, some combination of characters, must be causing this behavior. This is extremely weird, I must say… It is not about quotation marks, because I tried to change them into quotation tags, but it didn’t publish it once again.
I guess we should determine what exactly causes this, but let’s use this thread instead of thread about the book. Please, delete my test posts too.

August 1, 2012 at 2:45 am #23708A little bit of quotes about Yuna with Russian origin (mostly, at least):
“The winner in female figure skating, Yuna Kim from Korea, performed sensationally, winning with a great margin.” – Evgeni Plushenko (when asked about the athletes on Olympic games he truly respects).
Original: “победительница в женском одиночном катании Ю-На Ким из Кореи выступила просто блестяще, победив с потрясающим отрывом.”
Source: http://www.kp.ru/daily/24450/614639/“Yuna Kim is a fantastic girl, my favorite figure skater. She has a talent from God. That sort of athletes are born once in a thousand years.” – Alexander Zhulin
Original: “Ю-На Ким – это просто фантастическая девочка, самая любимая моя фигуристка. Талант от бога. Такие рождаются раз в тысячу лет.”
Source: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/275073There’s a slightly different version of this quote that goes like: “A talent like this is born once in thousand years.”, original: “Такой талант рождается раз в тысячу лет”, source: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/373172
“She’ll more than likely have a few mistakes here, but the gold medal is absolutely hers to lose…
It’s amazing how easily she can collect points in other ways. Every single moment she’s out there, she’s adding value. Every time she takes a breath, I think she collects points,” – Scott Hamilton
Not translated, multiple sources, for example: http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/figureskating/story/2010/02/25/spo-nytimes-catching-kim.html?ref=rss“This girl is perfection itself! On ice she can play any character.” – Philippe Candeloro
Original: “Эта девочка – само совершенство. На льду она может сыграть любую роль!”.

The above post was regarded as spam. When there’s a lot of texts and links, the blog notices it as a spam and it needed to be approve. I just approved it. Was that what you wanted to post Daniel?

August 1, 2012 at 4:23 am #23727I see. Well, this is something weird with the forum engine, I mean it could at least inform me that it’s being hold on approval rather than show a page without anything.
Thank you for fixing it, guys

Sorry about this Daniel. The blog lacks some feature or useful functionality that we could use. As we look forward to Sochi, I think we’ll need to consider looking at a more stable platform. Just my thoughts ever since Yuna said she’ll be returning to competition.

The blog itself is fine, I guess, but the forum can definitely be improved.
Personally I’m most familiar with the combination of Joomla as a site engine and IPB forums as the forum engine, they can be integrated and work together almost as the same entity.
The problem is that it seems to be overcomplicated, especially compared to the current ATY and the customization is not straightforward at all. There are many different site engines that should be evaluated. As about forums, I’m definitely a fan of IPB
August 1, 2012 at 7:24 am #23730Daniel, yes the blog doesn’t seem to be much an issue but the forum sure does need more improvements. More important is it needs a reminder for new posts since last logged in. That’ll be helpful. I know that soompi.com has something similar to ATY where their main is a blog concept and they incorporate a forum using vanilla forum. I am sure there’s hundreds of other sites out there to consider. I am familiar with IPB but I don’t think it can be incorporated with wordpress. I am not techy in terms of these things.
As Smitten always says, all of these make me nosebleed.

It can. I mean, you can integrate them the way that your login for blog will be the same for the forum and the other way too. The only question is how tricky it is. I have no experience with wordpress, but probably it isn’t more complicated than integration with Joomla.
Personally I think that if the forum is changed for IPB, that would be a great change.IPB or not, most likely this is something worth thinking about…
