Yuna Kim Recommends ‘Tobermory’ for the Perfect Holiday Spot

 

Where would be the holiday spot that Yuna Kim and other world class figure skaters dreaming of?

 

Before performing for 'Samsung Galaxy SIII★Smart Aircon Q All That Skate Summer 2012' from August 24th to 26th at Olympic Park Gymnasium, 'Figure Queen' Yuna Kim and other world class figure skaters talked about their best holiday spot and their expectancy in upcoming ice show in Korea through the interview with All That Sports. The main topic of this interview was "vacation" concerning the theme of upcoming ice show, 'A trip to the Ice World, the best holiday spot that could blow the heat away'.

Yuna Kim picked a trip to Tobermory in Canada where she stayed for three days with her fellow skater Minjung Kwak and her family after 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics as the most memorable holiday spot and recommended the place to her fans for their vacations. Kim mentioned that "A trip to Tobermory was my first ever vacation since I started my career so young. I remember that I could relax my mind in front of the great lake that seemed endless just like the ocean." She also added that "an ideal vacation is to be with the people you can have fun with. I really hope that everyone could enjoy the vacation through ‘the trip to the Ice World’ in this extremely hot weather with me and other top figure skaters."

The most popular holiday spot in Korea picked by other figure skaters was Jeju Island. 2011 World Championship winner Patrick Chan(Canada), 2006 Torino Winter Olympics silver medalist Stephane Lambiel(Switzerland), 2007 World Championship winner Brian Joubert, 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics bronze medalist Joannie Rochette(Canada), and Adagio pair team Fiona Zladua and Dmitry Sukhanov(Great Britain) all picked Jeju Island as Korea's best holiday spot, mentioning that "I have always wanted to go there", and "I have heard that the view and the weather are fantastic." Zaldua and Sukhanov added the special relationship to Jeju Island; their brother got married in Jeju Island.

Two female skaters from Finland, Kiira Korpi(2010 World Championship silver medalist) and Laura Lepisto(2010 World Championship bronze medalist) picked Seoul as the holiday spot that they would like to visit by mentioning "Korea's capital city, Seoul, is a very interesting place.” Korpi expressed her wish to go around Seoul as she remembered that she was intrigued with the sound of cicadas singing in Seoul while she was performing in All That Skate in 2011.

Visiting Korea for the first time, Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin(2006 Torino Winter Olympics Pair gold medalist, Russia) even asked for the Korean figure skating fans to recommend the places to go mentioning "we do not want to visit just one city. By visiting small cities, we want to have the whole picture about Korea and the Korean people. Tatiana's husband and the figure skating living legend Alexei Yagudin seems to be joining her wife traveling Korea mentioning the most ideal holiday spot is "anywhere next to my wife."

Skaters also did not forget to give thank Korean fans who give fantastic support. Starring in All That Skate for the first time, Joannie Rochette asked for a passionate support saying "I feel like a rock star when I go to Korea for the ice show." Lepisto showed her expectancy to upcoming ice show by saying "All the skaters participating in All That Skate are privileged to be on the best stage because of the Korean fans."

Four male single skaters especially showed their thankfulness to their female fans. Patrick Chan said "I would like to thank all the fans supporting me through All That Skate. I am extremely happy to give you excitement with my performance." Stephane Lambiel and Brian Joubert mentioned "I love all my fans. I am looking forward to meeting you all." Alexei Yagudin who will visit with her wife also sent a message to thank the fans.

Male skaters were also questioned with the gentlemen’s quality. Alexei Yagudin answered the gentlemanship is "maintaining the quality as a human being." Brian Joubert answered "a man who can respect and protect all women." Stephane Lambiel answered "a man who has good manners, perfect style and sense, strong character, and the difference from other men." Lastly, Patrick Chan answered "a man who is polite, thoughtful and generous." Chan also asked for Korean fans to expect "a chic and passionate performance."

Yuna Kim, who is especially preparing hard for upcoming ice show, expressed her desire to make the best performance by mentioning "I hope all the fans who are coming to this ice show could put their worries aside and just enjoy the show with their friends and family.

'Samsung Galaxy SIII★Smart Aircon Q All That Skate Summer 2012' will be held in Olympic Gymnasium specialized ice rink in the theme of 'the best vacation 'To the Ice World' that will break the extreme heat apart.'
